Heritage Village

Largo, Florida – May 7, 2026, Unofficial

Heritage Village is listed as a paranormal hotspot on several social media sites and YouTube videos. The SPIRITS of St. Petersburg have been there before, and we’ve even asked if we could host an official investigation. Both requests, one for the National Day of Ghost Hunting and one for just an investigation, were turned down. However, since the park is open to the public and accessible, we can walk around. Although this was not an official investigation, we used EMF meters and video to capture EVPs, and we went on a weekday afternoon when the park was nearly empty. (There were a total of 6 other people there at the time I went, and only 3 others by the time I toured the House of the Seven Gables).

Research and word of mouth says that the whole park is haunted. It is a conglomeration of historic homestead houses from around the county that were slowly moved to this site starting in 1976. Several of the original sites were redeveloped during that time.

My walk-through was about 1 hour long. The first video is 44 minutes; the second video was shorter but ended up too distorted (different phone and mic) that it was not really viable. I also made a third video afterward, summarizing what I found there before I left the site.

The full video is listed on YouTube. General notes for this video include the following guide:

Minutes 1 – 5: Introduction and Safety Harbor Train Station. Minute 2:54 the telegraph went off by itself (I assume a motion trigger. It did it one more time while I was there but when I tried to retrace my steps to find the trigger, it did not go off again. I had to push a button on a display to get the sound to play). Minute 3:03: I THINK there is a soft EVP saying “hey”, male voice.

Minute 5: McMullin House

Minute 7: Lowe House

Minute 9:50 – 12:50: Harris School

15:09: Water Tower and Outhouse

16:40: Moore house, 17:20 was an EMF spike at the question “Is anyone in here?”. I noted an unusual smell at 18:26, and the house felt notably cooler, though it was not air-conditioned. It may have been the open areas of the logs and slats used to make the house.

20:24: Union Academy

22:30: William’s Park Bandstand

23:49: Safety Harbor Methodist Church (earliest in the area); 24:45: possible response to request for a name.

25:30: Plant Sumner House. The folks who built the (haunted former) Biltmore Hotel lived here. It was one of the first powered buildings in Pinellas County and likely drew power lines from the hotel itself.

27: House of the Seven Gables. This is the house that is often referred to as most haunted, with shadowy figures, faces, and voices manifesting. Some claim manifestations of EVPs as well. It served as a clubhouse for the Binder Boys and was also an Inn and Tea Room. Built in 1907 to a bluff in Clearwater, it was moved in 1976 to HV. At 40 minutes, the EMF spiked to yellow. I also felt very dizzy (as also noted by others in the group), and I asked if the floor was slanted. The tour guide thought that it was. (This was done off-camera but is noted in the summary video).
