Downtown St. Petersburg (Business)

Notes:
Rocket Fizz, 658 Central Ave
Business
June 6, 2026
Reported Activity:
I heard rumors that someone had been shot and killed there (a manager?) The shooting was at an Uptown bar; the person was not killed but was shot while sleeping with the owner’s wife.
Had a display fall when no one was near.
June 1: We had another thing happen when we were nowhere near the cart. I was in the back, and another girl witnessed some candy bars just basically fly off the cart out of nowhere.
June 6: Pre-investigation, one of the employees reported a lot of phenomena (hearing things fall when nothing had fallen).
History:
Note: Original floors and a rolling door in the back.
658 Central Avenue in St. Petersburg, FL is a 5,000 sq. ft. commercial building originally constructed in 1923. Located in the heart of downtown, it has transitioned from early 20th-century origins to become a celebrated cornerstone of the city’s contemporary arts and nightlife history. [1, 2, 3]
Its history is defined by the following milestones:
- 1920s Origins: Built in 1923, the property retains historical features from the period, including 14-foot exposed ceilings and original design details. [1, 2]
- The “FUBAR” Era: From 2009 through the end of 2018, the address housed FUBAR Downtown, a renowned underground rock and dive bar. It was widely celebrated in the Florida music scene as an incubator for local punk, metal, and garage rock bands. [1, 2, 3]
- The 600 Block Renaissance: Today, the site operates as Rocket Fizz, a retro candy and soda shop. It is a staple of the famous “600 Block,” an area that transformed from 1990s vintage thrift stores into a bustling, walkable cultural district. [1, 2, 3, 4]
- Modern Listings: The building is currently valued at over $1.2 million, retaining its historical brick-and-mortar character while serving as a prominent retail stop on downtown food and culture walking tours. [1, 2]

Present for investigation: Arielle, Carissa, Ann, and Brandy; Team Leader Cynthia M.
Carissa: So right around the candy chest, I got dizzy, but the floor is uneventful. I don’t think that explains the dizziness. Up by the cash register, I felt cold toward the soda stuff. (refrigerator). Cold push toward the refrigerator and front door. They don’t know we are allowed to be here. Near the cash register, I kept saying “she,” but I‘m not positive it’s a she.
When Ann and I walked by it, we heard a high-pitched noise; it’s not the tempo lights or ref. It may not be paranormal (might be electrical. Not the same as the lights. It could have been something.
When I went to check on Ann, I heard a voice say “Mom” but we were close to the window so it could have been outside.
Arielle: I feel like there is a drift to the left side of the refrigerator, drifting that way. Dizzy behind the cash register and in that corner. Pulling and ear pressure to the front of the register. Right in front of the right corner. EMF was also going off (2.4). Normal reading was.4.
Ann: Something doesn’t want me in here, pressure in the head and ears. It pushes me to the door. It feels like I’m swimming upstream, pushing me. Breath taken away, messing with ears. Behind the register, the EMF meter spiked, and when I came back around, it calmed down. Spikes are coinciding with more intensity. Thermal camera; Toward the front, there is a display, facing the door to the right of Spiderman …. Ambient energy was 68 – 70, then there was an 80-degree spike that passed through. It was at my eye level. At the ceiling, it does register hotter, which makes sense as the lights are there. The two others were to my right, and this energy was to the left.
Cash register area. “The store is closed, time to go”. It thought I was going to steal something…..Once I walked back around, it calmed back down.
The computer is in a sleep state, and the EM is on the backside of the monitor, so that was expected, but the area away from the area to the right, it kept going up. It was not periodic but very random. One would feel more pressure, and it would go off.
