Mari Jean Hotel
9.27.2025
For this year’s event, we had three tours at 5, 6, and 7 PM. Each tour started with a paranormal 101 followed by a walk through of active areas of the hotel on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Participants were asked to submit a form with responses on what, if any, activity they captured during the event.
Response 1: Ann J. Utilized a K II meter.
Felt an unspecific edginess.
Room 323: I started feeling ill, then queasy, and it intensified. My EMF meter was in the yellow, but no one else seemed to be showing that. I then spoke to whoever was there and explained that I was not feeling well and that I was still learning to control sensations when interacting, and asked them to step back. Shortly after that, I felt better, and the meter readings returned to base level green. I thanked them.
Response 2: Matthew L. KII/EMF meter, recording
Room 211: I was in the corner by the door with the EMF detector that was intermittently slightly going up. No EVPs during that time as I was recording audio.
Near 307: Near the area of 307, just before the floor had a slight drop, I stopped walking and backed up because I was drawn back to that area by the room. I actually stepped forward, then backward twice to make sure the feeling was there. The floors are obviously wonky, and this could contribute, but I was definitely drawn back to that spot.
North Hallway: Definitely where I was drawn earlier upon exiting the elevator. Just entering the North hallway, I felt “Yup, this is where the action happens.”
Post investigation review: I reviewed my audio recording and potentially caught an EVP in room 323 (I believe where the SLS camera was being used). When your team member was asking if the spirit had lived there, there may be something, but with all the contamination, it’s difficult. I can send it to you if you just let me know how to send it for review. I stayed in the back of the group on purpose. Being a medium, it can sometimes be difficult to differentiate between picking up on crowd energies versus “external” energies; that’s why I stayed in the back, a little more to myself.
Response 3: Chad K. KII/EMF meter
Next to 203/elevator shaft. This was the first of three places where I felt like there was a different vibe in the air or a different feeling in general. It wasn’t anything like an emotional feeling or anything explainable…just “different.” Sort of like when you’re staring at a consistent pattern, and something is out of place, even if you’re not quite sure what it is.
Note: I’m not sure if this occurred by the elevator shaft on the 2nd or 3rd floor.
(If this was the last room we were in with Nancy? 211 or 311? Please let me know of it was a different room)
Room 211: As we were walking to this room in the West Hall, I had high readings on my digital EMF detector. Once we got closer to the room, it normalized. There was no activity in front of the room, but once I entered it definitely felt different. It felt heavier: at one point, there was a heavy feeling in my chest, almost a tightness, or like a weight had been placed on me. I’m not sure if that indicated anything at all. Was it the weight of emotion? Sadness? Anger? Or a physical ailment of someone that had been there before? Not sure, but it was definitely a different feeling than I had anywhere else in the building.
South Hallway: As we were walking through the south hall, my attention was immediately drawn to Room 307. I was drawn to that room with an overwhelming sense of curiosity, as if I needed to go in and see what was on the other side of that door.
It was at the end of the tour when we were given the hotel map that showed that Room 307 was previously a point of interest (“there was a person with a story to tell”); this room was also mentioned in The Gabber article.
This is the room/area I am most interested in after leaving the Mari Jean, as I feel there is a story to tell behind that door.
Room 323: When we entered that room, everyone who held an EMF detector noticed a spike in energy. There was some limited SLS and Spirit Box activity, but nothing conclusive in my opinion. No other vibes or feelings in the room for me otherwise.
